The Fillmore Detroit is a premier Live Nation entertainment venue located in the Michigan city’s Theatre District. The Fillmore Detroit originally opened on the old site of the Grand Circus Theatre in 1925. Through the years, the Fillmore Detroit has also been known as the State Theatre and the Palms Theatre. It eventually became the Fillmore Detroit as we know it today in 2007, when Live Nation decided to take the Fillmore name (originally started in San Francisco) and turn it into a brand.
Regardless of the changes in title, the Fillmore Detroit has managed to gain and maintain acclaim at both local and national level. During its earlier years, the Fillmore Detroit schedule was often filled with various movie house events and black tie parties. Today, the Fillmore Detroit schedule plays host to many of the biggest names in entertainment including the Foo Fighters, Justin Timberlake, Bob Dylan, Ozzy Osbourne, Kid Rock and Keith Urban. Indeed, its position as one of the city's premier live music venues is evidenced by the Fillmore Detroit continual selection as the location for the annual Detroit Music Awards.
In 1982, the venue was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
